Do you feel better now after getting all those butt-hurt feelings out of your system?
Sure is nice to see someone so proud of their 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, with it's insanely powerful 285hp V6 and its excellent handling. I can completely understand why someone would mention a Jeep Wrangler Sahara as a prime choice to satisfy the OP's criteria for acceleration and handling.
Only an idiot would think that a 285hp V6 in a WRANGLER is a good choice for the OP. It's not even the best choice among the JEEP LINEUP! It doesn't have anywhere near the power and acceleration of a Grand Cherokee, and it certainly doesn't handle as well as a GC either.
And I'm the one who doesn't know anything about cars. LOL
Standard engine in a GC is still the Pentastar V6 - 290hp. If I remember right, most GC's being sold come with it. I've got a 2014 Limited, it has plenty enough power for what I do, but my next one will have the V8. If you want more power in the Grand, you get to shell out for the Hemi or the diesel, neither of which is particularly cheap, especially the diesel. That said, if you want excellent handling, you're clearly not going to buy an SUV, at least if you're also shopping for a car.

I'm aware of that. But the OP said their budget was $40k or higher. They can easily opt for the V8 if they are concerned about acceleration, and still come in well under $40k.
It's not even an option for the Wranglers, and even with the GC having the V6, it's STILL as fast or faster than the Wrangler because of the transmission/gearing choices.
As far as handling goes, this one is a complete no brainer. The GC now has 4 wheel independent suspension instead of the live axle setup found on a Wrangler. They've retained that to keep its offroad ability. As far as handling goes, it's about as archaic as it gets.
I am looking for a sedan, crossover or SUV that meets the following criteria (listed in order of importance). Please help me find it.
I am looking to spend less than 40k out the door (MSRP could be well above that).
MUST HAVES:
1. Excellent acceleration (no pickup lag or jerky transmission)
2. Excellent handling (this may exclude all Asian cars...)
3. Excellent stereo (at least 400 watts, at least 9 speakers) and acoustics (I have done aftermarket stereos before and I honestly no longer want to deal with that hassle)
4. Sun/moonroof
5. Backup camera
6. Leather
7. Large infotainment display
OPTIONAL (in other words, I would be willing to pay above 40k if the following were available):
8. Lumbar support
9. Heated seats
10. Power trunk/tailgate door
You want good gas mileage, too, right...to tote all your funsy stuff around. (BTW, those heated seats will decrease your gas mileage; they're heavy.)
In fact, "conventional wisdom" also says Cadillacs are boats, yet the CTS-V (a 4-door sedan) destroys many much more expensive European and Asian cars on a the race track - including some highly respected pure sports cars (Audi R8, Porsche 911 Turbo, Cayman S, etc).
