There were no Lamborghinis in '61. The company was founded in '63, and the Miura (one of the most beautiful cars ever built) didn't arrive until '66.
For me, 1963 was the year, and there are a few cars that make the cut (in order):
Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta Lusso,
Ferrari 250 GTO, Corvette, and sentimentally, the Comet/Falcon hardtop coupe or convertible with the V8.
Honorable mentions go to the Galaxie 500 hardtop coupe and Chevy II coupe.
For your year a Corvette or a Starliner would be good choices
