I there any rule how long transmissions hold or is it completely individual? Our 2007 Grand Caravan has 143k miles on it and the manual says only to keep the fluid full, don't flush or anything. So I keep it filled and the fluid still looks mostly pink but with a grey tinge to it. Is there any way to know how long it lasts? I don't wnat to wake up some day it it doesn't shift any more. I would want to part with the car before that. Otherwise the car is in great shape and I would love to keep it for years to come. Thanks!

On my vehicles
late 89s early 90s seems to be 150,000
After 95 when engines started getting computer control my work trucks seem to reach around 190k.
My current trucks all have 160,000 miles plus (with one exception) and the transmissions seem to be running fine. My truck is a manual still on the original clutch
My last truck the average life is 150k. I'm at 170 with that one and seems to be just fine. I just don't do burnouts or abuse the transmission. I expect to get another 100k out of it before a rebuild.
There are too many factors as to when a transmission could/would fail. Do regular maintenance and that is a big help. Especially if you plan on keeping the vehicle a long time. My wife and I have a 06 corolla (wife brought new) now with 176,000 miles and it is solid (hopefully stays that way for awhile). We are hoping to get at least 200k with little to no issues. did have to replace the cat within the last year or so.
Are you having any symptoms or is the transmission slipping?

Never had a auto transmission problem in over 60 years of driving. Problems usually depend how rough someone is on their vehicles.
I guess you never owned one of the CVT transmissions out now from several manufacturers. The older transmissions of the day are tinker toys, compared to the stuff thoroughly untested and sold to the public today, while they keep their finger crossed.
The last transmission failure I had was with a 1994 Cutlass Supreme, it started randomly slipping at 90k, but made it to 120k before it gave out completely.
Follow schedule “B” if youusually operate your vehicle
under one or more of thefollowing conditions. Change
the automatic transmissionfluid and filter every 60,000 miles if the vehicle is usually operated under
one or more of the conditionsmarked with an .
• Day or night temperaturesare below 0° C (32° F).
• Stop and go driving.
• Extensive engine idling.
• Driving in dusty conditions.
We're in Arizona so condition "dusty" may apply sometimes but not usual. That's the thing - it's so vague. What does "dusty" mean... doing dirt roads every day or our occasional dust storm? Anyways, I feel it's now too late to start changing the tranny fluid for the first time at 143k miles. Better hope and pray and keep it in. Or?
