So my AAA plus membership is up for renewal for $122. Every year I wonder if there is a better deal out there. We now have two brand new cars and they might have come with some form of roadside assistance, Still, I prefer to have my own.

It's like any kind of insurance- you are gambling that you will or you won't need it, depending on what you do. It's your choice, really.

I use mine whenever I drink too much. Unplug a coil wire start the truck let it throw a blinking check engine light. Call AAA and get towed home. Best taxi cab ever lol.

Why is your AAA $122, mine in AZ is only $57.00, wife's $31.00. We've had over $400.00 in savings this year alone in perks.

It's the Plus. I think they tow for 100 miles or so. The regular towing of 3 miles is useless.

I keep renewing it because the one year I didn't we got run off the road in the Sierra's in January and our car was stuck in a snow bank at 1AM, it cost almost $700 to get it pulled out of the snow (minimum charge in the Sierras to roll a towtruck is $250)

Every year, for my birthday, my one son renews my AAA Gold Plus membership. I've only used it twice, once when I blew a water pump 250 miles from home, and once to get a jump when my battery was dead. It feels pretty good to have that little security in my wallet.

I have never used any of the other perks, except I did use it for a better hotel rate one time, I think.

It's possible that policy varies by region. In Texas, for example, the Plus towing limit is 100 miles, but the basic is 7 miles. Additional towing miles over the limit are at the member's expense, at a per-mile rate established by AAA Texas.

I've been driving for over 40 years. AAA would have cost me much more than the few times I needed a tow. As for other savings, between the wife's AARP and my military discount, AAA wouldn't save me much, if anything. Since your vehicles are newer, you're right about roadside service. The info should be in your warranty packet.

If its served you well so far, maintain it.

I've had nothing but bad experiences when I had membership.

As for discounts, I get those thru other Net savvy sites. No longer does AAA have the better discounts.
