If you are using Top Tier gas, in theory you really shouldn't need to add anything to keep the fuel system clean. With that being said, I am a fan of Seafoam. I use it in all my two-cycle and four-cycle power equipment and dump a bottle in the tank of the car every so often.

With ethanol in today's gasoline, I do think this stuff is wise to use.

https://youtu.be/gg9ppeUMpK4

His delivery is "entertaining", but the proof is pretty darn compelling. I've recently run two tank loads of gumout with PEA through my VW w/ 40k, MB w/ 23k, and our highlander w/ 75k miles. I replaced the plugs on the highlander last weekend and used my own scope to look into the cylinders...clean as a whistle. No way they were that clean before I put two cans through the fuel.

I have to run a bottle through the VW about every 10k miles to keep it running at top notch level. Otherwise it starts to feel a little rough and a bit sluggish. It's a 2015 GTI.

How often do you dump a can in the tank? What's the benefit of Seafoam over Techron, as Seafoam is more expensive?

Waste of money if you use top tier gas. Some manufacturers require an additive if you don't use top tier gas. Bottom line...just use top tier gas. If you use Gas Buddy, top tier gas is identified.

This sounds like it has placebo written all over it.
Your 2015 VW is designed to work off 10% ethanol. If it were actually running rough or sluggish it would set off a check engine light. Are your low mileage cars suddenly running like crap or are your trying to fix a problem that doesn't exist?

You have to take into consideration that in the Northernmost regions of the US and Canada ethanol is not used in gasoline blends, specially during the winter months.

Don't tell Iowa that.
So is it ethanol or the lack of ethanol people feel like they need an additive for?
