This made me learn something new. Someone posted that Fiat took over Chrsyler in 2014, so post 2014 they made better cars. I started to reply that Fiat took over in 2009. Then I looked it up to make sure. turns out we were both right.

" filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization on April 30, 2009, and participating in a bailout from the U.S. government through the Troubled Asset Relief Program. On June 10, 2009, Chrysler emerged from the bankruptcy proceedings with the United Auto Workers pension fund, Fiat S.p.A., and the U.S. and Canadian governments as principal owners. The bankruptcy resulted in Chrysler defaulting on over $4 billion in debts. By May 24, 2011, Chrysler finished repaying its obligations to the U.S. government five years early, although the cost to the American taxpayer was $1.3 billion. Over the next few years, Fiat gradually acquired the other parties' shares while removing much of the weight of the loans (which carried a 21% interest rate) in a short period. On January 1, 2014, Fiat S.p.A announced a deal to purchase the rest of Chrysler from the United Auto Workers retiree health trust."

In 2009 FIAT had revamped Chrysler and changed some of their practices. I did not even realize they had declared BK, but I think Fiat had control of the policies of the company either before 2009 or just before. However now I am questioning that. I know that in 2009 they were run by FIAT, but I do not know when in 2009. It is also not clear who was running the company in 2007 and 2008. The Court maybe?

Now I understand why FCA is so cash strapped.

Before Chapter 11, Chrysler was owned and run by private equity firm Cerberus Capital Management.

Fiat got in after Chapter 11 was filed in mid 2009.

In the world of opposite land, you are 100% correct.

Because Fiat vehicles have always been JUNK!!! Chrysler also wasn't know for making quality vehicles. So put two crappy car manufacturers together and NOTHING good is going to come out of it.

People have been complaining about Chrysler for many years, no matter who owns them, and no matter if they have ever owned one, or owned on within the last 20 years. I know that I used to until I had to get one. I learned that they are better than what everyone says.

If it was such a crappy place, why stick around for 3 years?

I have a 2014 Durango Citadel and it's built on a Mercedes chasis....you know how Mercedes is well known for junk. This is why I don't understand the hate for Chrysler today. Then again, I hear how much Ford and GM suck too. Seems like if you try you'll find people who hate everything. What do they drive? Horse & buggy?

Horses and buggies are crap. Smelly poop everywhere, alwyas wanting attention, the miles per bales is terrible, buggy rides like a truck, and the multimedia screen is so small you cannot even see it. They ahve always been junk, people just did nto realize it.
