Why do so many people drive like they are taking somebody to the ER or something? It seems to me like there are actually two species of drivers on the road - Homo Sapiens, and Homo Alwaysinabighurryus.

Places to go, people to see, things to do. Just stay out of the left lane unless you're passing.

There are roads for slow driving and then there are freeways. If you prefer driving slow and being around other slow drivers, just drive on those roads.

People may or may not be in a hurry. They might be driving fast just because it is fun to do so.

There are definitely two types of people in cars. Drivers and operators.

This is the holiday season, lots of people have lots of things to do. If you're dawdling on the road, just stay home and stay out of everyone else's way.

Everyone has a limited supply of minutes in this life, why waste them sitting in a car going slower than you safely can?

I see this every morning while driving to work on I25. There will be traffic backed up for miles and when you finally see what is causing all the traffic, it is generally a couple of cars that feel the need to drive 20+mph under the speed limit which causes everyone else to slow down and wait to pass them.

There are 4 types of people of the road....

-Normal drivers, who adhere close to speed limit and are more or less attentive and competent
-Spirited drivers, who will drive fast and overtake slower drivers when it is safe and reasonable to do so
-Slow drivers, who lack confidence and often block lanes on highways and should really stick to the right most lane.
-Maniac drivers, who drive too fast but lack the competence to do so safely without endangering others.

Type 1 and 2 are acceptable. The other two pose a threat to the rest.

This, mostly, but then some people enjoy driving and just like to go fast, pushing the speed limits just enough to avoid too many tickets. There are many vehicles of all sizes now with 300+ horsepower such as Nissan Maxima, Buick LaCrosse, Acura RLX, Audi A8, Tesla, Mustang, Camaro, and Challenger to name a few (my truck has 385) and it becomes frustrating to be behind someone going at or even below the speed limit.

Cause they want to race to the next red light where you will meet them again.

And there will be many vehicles that will have less horsepower on the road than what you are driving. It is being part of a society that has wide range of driving skills and various types of vehicles.
