Because speeders are jerks. A self entitled, self caused sense of urgency. Want to go fast? Rent time on a track.

It only seems to you like they are in a hurry. They're asking, "Why does this guy drive so slow?"

Not necessarily. I walk fast but don't drive that way. At least, not in heavy traffic. I think that driving fast (exceeding speed limit) in heavy traffic is reckless, regardless of how skilled you are as a driver. Just because most others are doing it doesn't compel me to join the club.

A lot are in a big hurry to get to Wallmart so they can spend a half-hour in the checkout line. I do find it odd that half the drivers on the road are A-holes to one degree or the other, yet are almost always well behaved in checkout lines.

I agree. Old people ought to be able to drive their age.
"Hopefully still driving at 86"

You do know that speed limits are basically random don't you? There is no reason for the particular speed limits selected in most places. It is just a random number that sounds good to someone at the time. A safe speed varies with conditions, condition and type of car, driver alertness and skill/experience weather, road conditions etc. A safe speed is a safe speed, it has nothing to do with speed limits on a sign.

Wow. judgmental !! How many of them do you actually know? My wife is the sweetest most caring person you will ever meet. If you do not love her, something is wrong with you, but she tends to have a lead foot at times, especially on empty rural roads with absurd speed limits.

Because they think they are so-so-so important & special.

I moved from an urban area to Hooterville, and the drivers race around like they are VIPs, going to important places.

They’re younger than you.
