Multiples safer than an ordinary motorcycle though I don't know how Can-Ams do in comparison. Can-Ams are pretty expensive, I rarely see one. Pretty much never on the interstate.
I think a single seat automobile may have some traction in todays increasingly single world. Why not use it for urban commutes? I'd be a little concerned on the interstate but still much safer than a cycle.
There were efforts to get USA manufacturing in Louisiana several years ago but little investor interest.
There is a strong market for mini houses and mini cars. Many single people can't afford to live alone and own/insure a full sized car.
Yet there are always PLENTY of people whining about Joe-MERICA!!! driving around, solo, in massive trucks/SUVS Or the number of people whining that new cars are just too dang expensive when all they're doing is driving themselves back and forth to work.
I see the so-called "4 seater" cars with back seats so tiny that you can barely fit a 3 year old back there, to be much more absurd than this thing. My Chevy Volt was like that - the rear seats were essentially a padded package shelf. I would have MUCH rather GM just made it a two seater, and stuffed more battery capacity into it.
I like the concept of this, and think the Slingshot/Can-Am to be ridiculous as a daily commuter as well.
Yet there are always PLENTY of people whining about Joe-MERICA!!!
Often I am guilty of that very prejudice. Everything in America is big... Vehicles, houses, portions; ambitions and expectations... and of course, people. It is a country of bigness. Single-seater cars just don't look promising. Even the motorcycles weigh something like 800 pounds here!
The company remains very much in startup mode, reporting a net and comprehensive loss of more than US$11 million last year, up from almost US$9 million in 2016, according to filings to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
Don't expect to see this overtaking American streets anytime soon.
