Tires are one of those things that you do get what you pay for.
My sister put a cheapo set of Walmart tires on her accord. The cheapest they had. These poor tires squealed into every corner no matter how gentle you took it, and when it rained, it felt like they were coated in grease. That ABS and traction control was working hard in just a mild rainstorm. I drove it once on the highway in a downpour and had a few pucker moments. I convinced her to change them out for better tires.
I've always bought he best tires I could afford within reason. It's just amazing when you can hit standing water on the highway and the car barely flinches. Consider the extra funds spent insurance.
Just to show how ridiculous some posted prices are, a single Goodyear Wrangler HP in 255/70/18 at Midas costs $497.99. I know they are not known for tires but what are they thinking?

Be a wise consumer...
You can order top of the line tires, or junk - through Walmart or any other reseller.
You are free to pay exorbitant prices wherever you buy. It is not uncommon to online sales to set cookies on your browsing choices, and when you come back to purchase and the price is considerably higher, or product is no longer available (to you). Thus you need to be 'stealth' / incognito at times. Tires are no exception.
Certain cars / suspension behave very differently to different brands / manf design / tread and rubber compounds. If you are a demanding driver, you will have figured this out and buy specific products accordingly.

There must be an underlying reason for that. Cheapest I could find that tire for was $419.
Other size Goodyear Wrangler HP's were around $200. For some reason that one size is 2X.
Whatever is the cheapest at Discount Tire works for me, the don’t sell junk.
I would think twice on Walmart cheapo tires however.
I agree about Discount Tire and they have an Ebay presence & will match their prices to their Ebay tire prices which are frequently cheaper than what they charge in the store
Depends on how you drive. 90% of all passenger car owners never exceed the driving demands (speed, load, road conditions, etc.) that modern tires are designed for. Every tire legally sold in the US exceeds those safety standards,
and for tread life and performance, you can expect what you pay for.
For me, I wear Kelly or Cooper, because of the perception that both the familiar brand name and the locally-owned retailer have an incentive to stand behind their product.
