Wife is about your height and prefers driving the Prius because how ergonomic it is for her. The steering wheel is small, the pedals are reachable, the shift knob isn't huge, and everything is push button and organized.

My wife is 5'2" and she's nowhere near the limit of adjustment in her Honda Fit. I expect 4'9" would be no issue. Hers is a manual and even the clutch pedal is easy to mash to the floor without having the seat all the way forward.

Any sedan should do.

The women in my family range from 5'0" to 5'2" and they have never had any problems with driving a car, including some pretty big SUVs.

You want problems, go try and ride a motorcycle!

I would expect that as well although I can't speak for someone who's 4'9" (though I'm pretty short myself).

I've always considered that height to be well in the range of normal height.

Snooki in an Escalade.

It is interesting that, years ago, the bigger the car, the higher the driver sat.

My mom drove several Cadillacs... 1960, 1969, 1970 and 1974. All Coupe de Villes. She never needed to put a pillow on the seat so she could sit higher. She was 4' 11 and 3/4".

I would get a lifted F-350 pickup and have the pedals custom lengthened. You will be so high up seeing lines will be easy, and you will need two spaces to park anyway.

Seriously though if pedal reach is a problem you can have them modified on any car. I'd look at mid size SUVs like an Escape or Tahoe.

I know a couple of short couples who got Honda Fits (one couple got it first and recommended it to the other) and they seem pretty happy with their vehicles.

I'm barely 5 feet tall and I have not noticed any issues with my Nissan sedan. It's low clearance.

I'd suggest Kia for OP, those are small vehicles. Or the FIAT.

Not every short person is the same even if their overall height is the same. Some are long in legs and short on torso. This makes it difficult for them to see over the dashboard even with the seat raised to maximum height. Some are long in torso and short on legs. This leads to seats pulled up to the steering wheel to reach the pedals making them dangerously close to the airbags. The overall size of the vehicle doesn’t matter. Some small vehicles aren’t well made for short people while some larger vehicles are fine drivers position for short people.
