So, I replied earlier but have a little update. We've been in the market for a car for my daughter who will be turning 16. We're both about 5'1". Bought a 2020 Ford Escape today. I thought the visibility would be an issue, but I was amazed at how great it actually was. I have a newer Explorer, and I will admit that the visibility sucks. I love the car otherwise, but for that reason alone, I wouldn't buy it again. My daughter hates driving it for that reason. The Escape is really quite good for shorter drivers.

We got the SE trim. Part of the reason was because it has power seats, which allows you to raise the seat higher that the manual adjustments.

Back in the market.
My 2007 Acura TSX, which I have loved and adored, is slowly having all kinds of problems. I would love love love to buy a Toyota Camry EXL in red with the white interior, but somebody in Detroit or Tokyo has decided that all red cars need black interior. No thank you, not in Alabama!
The EXL Camry has the bigger HP engine, close to the TSX, which I've really enjoyed having. But they are impossible to find in the color I want.
So I'll take a Honda Accord, sllghtly smaller engine, red with off-white interior. A local dealership salesman said that currently they're only producing white, metallic, or black Accords. So BORING!
They're out there, but none closer than 200 miles away.
I've been patient for 2 years, but now I'm getting a little desperate.

My wife and in-laws range from 4’10” to 5’1”. They don’t seem to have much trouble with anything, although none drive an SUV. Volvo wagons and Priuses for in, laws, my wife drives a Chrysler Town and Country…and climbing up into it, she’s knocked off the plastic trim on the base of the seat. It sits basically at the same height as something like a CRV or RAV4. I’d stick with the cars you mentioned and not look for an SUV like the RAV4 I mentioned. I’m 5’7” and I don’t have fun with that height either. And no, I don’t consider the Soul or Niro to be SUVs at all, they’re hatchbacks, period.

You want reliability go for a Mazda Miata. Tall people cannot fit in this small car. Japanese cars usually are very easy to see over the front end of hood..

In heavy traffic it will be difficult to see very far ahead.

Mazda Miata, Nash Metropolitan, Fiat X-1/9 Bertone, Lotus Europa, Geo Metro, Suzuki Samurai.

...or you could just do what most people do, and that's get a full-sized Chevy Suburban XL.

This is true because it's a sports car low to the ground. At least you won't get blown around in the wind like the higher profile vehicles.
