No idea.
But they have started manufacturing EVs using sodiun ion battery, that is 40% cheaper than lithium.

Today while walking to the grocery store I went past a MG branded SUV, model ZE electric. I have never seen an MG SUV before, and british brand cars are very rare in Germany - aside from a few Range Rovers and a fair number of Minis (sold by parent BMW). Turns out this MG brand SUV is actually designed and built in China by SAIC (Shanghai Automotive) and sold in Europe under the MG brand (owned by SAIC). I guess that's one way that vehicles from China will make their way into other markets, through other existing regional brands.

PS I've ordered 2 Cybertrucks.
The Cybertruck is a matter of taste. Apparently, it fits your taste.

But you say the Semi is beyond brilliant. We'll see. Federal law controls maximum gross vehicle weights and axle loads on the Interstate System. Federal limits are 80,000 pounds gross vehicle weight, 20,000 pounds on a single axle, and 34,000 pounds on a tandem axle group.

What is the cargo/payload that can be hauled by a heavy diesel truck vs. the Tesla Semi? A big chunk of the GVW will be consumed by battery.
What is the refueling time?

That is true. The GM Hummer EV battery, which is 213kWh in capacity, is reported to weigh 2923lb. Musk and Tesla haven't released specs on the Semi, but based on claimed performance, the battery has been estimated at about 850kWh. That is going to be one heavy battery.

Tesla hasn't released specifics but EV semis are allowed an extra 2,000 lbs. of weight. Estimates are that the battery weighs up to 10,000 lbs.

If you do the simple estimate based on the Hummer EV, you get:

(850/213) * 2923lb= 11,665lb

Now, maybe the Semi battery will have higher mass energy density. But maybe not.

Volvo and Lotus are mostly owned by Geely which is also a Chinese company. Jaguar and Land Rover are owned by Tata from India.

Nio is trying to launch into Europe as its own brand, so that'll be interesting to watch.

Tesla Semi will be able to handle about 80% of the routes of a diesel and the cost savings compared to a diesel will be enormous, diesel will not be competitive in the future.

Fascinating. I wonder why? Actually, I suspect my understanding of weight limits is flawed. I thought weight limits exist because of wear & tear on roads, and because of momentum & stopping distances. Am I wrong? Why would EVs semis be allowed extra weight?

For a while, Mrs. moguldreamer and I each drove Jaguars.

Said differently, we had a gorgeous pair of Tatas.
