Thankfully the hike starts at the end of a black top road. We've been up there with all manner of non-outdoorsy vehicles over the years. I did some damage to my Subaru Baja there 3 years ago, but I was being an idiot driving too fast in a place I shouldn't have.
Agree. Most workers must make to work each day or night, and those who drive must continue using whatever vehicle they have. The cost of living will probably be quite high by the time winter sets in.
Our local utility company raised their rates because of fuel cost as well as recovering cost from hurricanes last year. We just got our electric bill and it was much higher in dollar amount versus kilowatt hours.

The rates in Alaska are very expensive already, and gradually coming up along the cost of fuel. A lot of the electricity in Alaska is generated by the use of coal, and diesel.
The Tesla is going on it’s first camping trip this weekend. Instead of $150+ in gas to fuel my cousin’s Jeep, we’ll use about $30 in electricity. Driving an electric sports car instead of a Jeep Wrangler to our annual camping trip sounds like a huge adjustment of habits to me!
