I wouldn't worry, the odds ahgainst building something durable enough to contend with normal road conditions while still being light enough to fly are extremely high, add the element of affordability and they're astronomical.

Yes and add to that the cost of manufacturers insurance coupled with auto insurance and the odds against increase even more.

It's an intriguing idea (other previous designs already noted in this thread). I'd love to blow off traffic or just go out for a Sunday drive-slash-flight. What I'd fear, is some boob backing their SUV into the folding wing while I wasn't watching, then me hitting turbulent air and watching the wingtip crack off as I realized that I no longer had symmetrical (or sufficient) lift to stay aloft. Not that it would happen, but that thought would probably keep me up at night.

Basically, I want the jet version invented. I mean, 115kts of flying car is cool... but I'd rather have a flying car that can do 450kts, climb at 5000+ FPM, and cruise at an altitude somewhere in the flight levels beginning with a "3". That would make quick work of a very long commute, although I can only imagine how many zeros would follow the number of the price tag. Anyway, at whatever price tag it would carry, I guess it would be cheaper to rent a time share in a private jet and purchase cars to keep at each destination.
