Anybody with Saab, Volvo, Acura, or Cadillac on their list cannot be taken seriously.
Have you ever owned or driven an Acura? If not, go to a dealership and test drive an Acura RL. I believe this is the only model of Acura actually made in Japan, and it is masterfully fit and finished. If Lexus and Infiniti belongs on the list, then Acura has a place as well. Hell, a fully loaded Honda EX V6 is nice enough, Acura takes it a few steps further.

I sell cars, so I've driven most everything on everyone's list, and an Acura is a nice car, but it's not a luxury car.

Mine would be (in no particular order)
MBZ
Jag
Lexus
BMW
Land Rover
... still not sure about the last 5...
MB S-Class
MB CL-Class
Lexus LS
BMW 7-Series
Audi 8-Class
Jaguar XJ series / Sovereign
That's it for under $100K. Everyone else is near-luxury.

How exactly do you classify "luxury" and "near-luxury"?
I'm interested how you wouldn't count a Cadillac DTS, BMW 5 Series, or Acura RL as a luxury vehicle? To me a near-luxury vehicle would be a Toyota Avalon or Nissan Maxima; they're nice but not quite on the same level as their higher-end cousins.

They just aren't to me. They are nice cars, but they aren't luxury cars.
I don't consider Cadillac in any way, shape, or form to be a luxury car.
The 5-series is a fantastic car, but it's more a sport sedan than true luxury car.
Nothing Acura makes is a luxury car to me.
Near-luxury is Lexus ES / GS, BMW 5-series, Audi 6, etc.
And Toyota / Nissan are nice cars. They are nowhere near luxury, not entry, not near, not anything.
The problem with this comparison is that they don't truly make a real, honest to goodness luxury car under $100K. While all the cars on this list are nice (for the most part), and most are luxurious, true luxury cars are very few and far between and are usually around $180K.
