I work at night, so I haven't noticed it. Lord knows when it happened.

I bought it February 9, in the afternoon. I went to the movies later that night, the 10 p.m. show and I was parked next to a big light-colored truck, that is similar to the little paint streak that's on my car. They were parked on the side of the dent. It's a small dent. It's not a terrible dent. But .... a dent's a dent. And I'm pissed.

I only can suspect it was that truck, I really don't know. The car I was parked next to all night tonight at work was darker colored, so it probably wasn't that one.

What do I do now? I hope I can get it fixed and it'll be covered. I don't see why it should come out of my wallet. Someone hit and ran. If it turns out that I would have to pay for it, I'm just gonna grit my teeth and forget it (until a later date anyway). I went from having a clunker to a reliable vehicle. So there's more blessing in this than anything. But....... it's still irritating. I've had it a day and a half and don't even have plates on it yet.

Really, there is nothing you can do. You will have a deductible to pay to get it fixed. A lot of people have no respect for other people's property anymore. Do you remember this thread?

This was actually someone who hit someone else's car, took off, and then asked us for help in fixing it. This is exactly what I am talking about.

It didn't say anywhere that she "took off" though. It said she hit someone's car slightly. For all you know, she could've reported it and everything.

Well, even though it's a small dent, it's not as bad-looking as all those black streaks. lol I'll check it out - it may not cost that much to fix. It's so small, I didn't notice when I left for work today. (But then again, maybe it wasn't there then. I don't know. I have noooo idea when it happened.)

Yeah... now that I think about it, my mom dented her 4-Runner pretty shortly after she got it. And hers was new-new. Mine is new-used.

i wonder how the Paintless Dent Repair is done, even if the tools push the metal back to its place, the paint surrounding the dent are stretched thus resulting to a crack.. but as the article says "eventually the dent becomes so small it blends with the texture of the paint and disappears completely", so its basically not put to its original state.

You would have to read the whole thread, not just the first post. She admitted to taking off and it became a catfight after that. Regardless, if you can post a picture of the damage it would be helpful. I agree the paintless dent repair would be your best option, provided the damage is minor enough.

LOL! I went out there just a little while ago with a flashlight to check it out again because it was bugging me. It's an indentation, but I guess I wouldn't go so far as to call it a dent, honestly. It's definitely indented. But a dent? Flat out dent? Mmmmmmmm nah.

I would tell anyone else to chill out. So that's what I'm going to do. Life's too short. It's still a great deal nicer than the car I previously had. And 10 years newer.

hey, at least you didn't do it to your own car. we had 50+ MPH winds yesterday, but my dumb ass forgot about it when i went to get some gas. i opened up the door and only had a light grip on it since there was plenty of room to let it swing. well, the wind grabbed it, yanked it from my hand, and slammed it into the concrete poll meant to keep people from running into the gas pump. stupidity sucks.

Mike

Aww man. What's the damage?
That really does suck. I'll bet your face looked like Chris Farley's in Tommy Boy after he ruins the car door.
