I'm wondering if a high rise in downtown/inner harbor will leave me trying to find a place to walk to eat at night and not many people? I though maybe that was the place to be and based on some responses here I may have the wrong picture. Thanks!
Baltimore is a city of neighborhoods, so downtown is kinda weird and touristy on a social level. Harbor East definitely has some cool energy though. I really like Butchers Hill a lot in which you could walk to JHH.. older crowd and short distance to Fells, Canton, Little Italy, Patterson Park and more. Really in any neighborhood there are bars with older crowds, don't be discouraged by what you hear about certain bars in Fells, Canton and Federal Hill that are filled with early 20's partiers.

Here is one info the Hopkins shuttle though it seems some links aren't' working.

This screams Harbor East. The free circulator bus goes directly to JHU.

Thanks! So far Harbor east is out of my price range. Of course. But I will keep looking. I am trying to figure if I should eliminate the "downtown" neighborhood, if it doesn't have enough to offer? Are you familiar with the complex 39 West Lexington? What do you think of that location?

Also Bolton hill might be a little too quiet?
You all are great, thanks for the help!

I'm getting ready to move into 300 Cathedral (300 Cathedral). The studios "in the $1200s" are actually $1295 and the basic one bedrooms are $1395, plus $25 a month for a pet. There are a few larger one bedrooms for $1500-$1600. Parking is $100/month (I think, I won't have a car so I didn't pay that much attention). It's less than a 10 minute walk to the JHU shuttle, one block from the purple circulator and two blocks from the light rail. There were a couple of other people looking at apartments while I was there, all mid-30's professionals. The property manager told me about 1/2 to 2/3 of the tenants so far are JHU grad students or hospital employees.
