This woman had her home broken into, which was initially classified as "random". She then stood-up to the criminals got the police and legal system involved and then the criminals came back did what they did. The second crime, therefore, is classified as "non-random" because of the prior break-in.

So now, an unknowing happy citizen gazes upon a statistic of a "non-random" killing associated with a robbery. But since it's "non-random", he/she can go about his/her day feeling more at ease because that label obviously indicates some past history there and since he/she doesn't have a negative past history with anyone they feel safer than they should.

Crime is like a sack of potatoes in this town.. you push it down on one end..it rolls over to another.. SE unfortunately is getting it because.. there is some affluence there, its an entertainment/shopping area thus people are going to and from venues with money and could be impaired or not paying attention to their surroundings, and because its part of the City Grid that connects it directly with some problem areas..criminals can move freely either on the street or in alleys to/from this area with ease.. sometimes only a street or even house separating a "good" street from a "bad" street. There is new stepped up enforcement which will help..Seems like Charles Village, Remington, Downtown, and Mt Vernon were getting it last year.. now the sack of potatoes is rolling into the SE.....

These kids cannot make an honest living because they lack the most basic of skills. The problem is they still want nice stuff and women. So they see some White yuppie walking around and they stick a pistol in his face for some money because after all White folks got money. So they think.

Their crimes are typical one of opportunities that yield little cash or property. This is indicative of people with low IQ and impulse control.

I think criminals.. white and black target this area for the same reasons.. money(real or perceived), drunk co-eds that are easy to take advantage of, plenty of cars parked on the street often blocks from where their owners live, plenty of escape routes... streets, alleys, cars, buses, and what have you. If race is a factor (i.e. young black kids robbing white yuppies some have described) it may be because of the perception that the "yuppie" is an easier target, likely not armed, may not resist, and most importantly cannot retaliate except by filing a police report which may or may not be followed up on by BPD.. they may not be from the same neighborhood from where the criminal resides... this is smalltimore after all...and thus will likely never see the thief again much less be able to ID them.. Since many whites yuppies may feel that many black males are armed and out to do no good.... many black male criminals feel the same way ....so they choose what they believe are the easier targets and may avoid other blacks male targets when on crime sprees in Canton........ Sterotypes could cut both ways in this instance.... On the other hand... robbing drug dealers say in West Baltimore requires an entirely different approach so when these thieves go after big game in places like Sandtown.. they bring a different strategy and gear for their hunting.....which is why the murder rate is what is its... more whites may get robbed.. but they more than likely will live.. while many black males especially those in the game.. get robbed they will likely get shot, stabbed or murdered in the execution of the crime.........Disclaimer.. its all BAD...
