They are 8th in strikeouts. lead the league in fewest walks issued and are second in fewest homeruns yielded, but their starters are getting thumped for a .283 average, 24th best in baseball.

Since the problem is ba rather than a three true outcome breakdown, and since it is only twice through the rotation, we are likely just looking at some bad luck on balls in play....or perhaps poor play by the Philadelphia defense.
I responded to this here
Filihok: Phillies' Rotation 11 Games In

But we have a lot more games to look at, so let's look again.

Phillies' starters are now:
1st in K/9 8.68 (8.20 is 2nd Giants)
1st in BB/9 1.98 (2.51 is 2nd Cardinals and Angels)
3rd in ERA 3.13 (2.65 is 1st Athletics)
1st in FIP 2.59 (3.31 is 2nd Athletics)
1st in WAR 9.1 (7.0 is 2nd Athletics)
27th in BABIP .304 (.262 is 1st Rockies)

Using StatCorner's tERA (explanation here)

we find that the Phillies' big 4 starters rank:
1st Halladay 2.97
2nd Lee 3.01
9th Oswalt 3.28
13th Hamels 3.49.

4 of the top 13 pitchers in baseball.

The staff has been all that was advertised

Hey, what ever happened to the old days when players would just rub some dirt on it and tough it out? Posey is such a pansy that he can't play with a little leg soreness?

Posey has 1.8 WAR thus far on the season. That gives him an expected WAR of about 6 for an entire season. With the injury the Giants will miss out on about 4 Wins

The Giants will try to replace him Eli Whiteside. Whiteside has 1.1 WAR in 315 career plate appearances. That's a close enough approximation for the number of PA's he'll get the remainder of the season. So, we add a Win to the Giants' total.

Now they are down 3 Wins.

The new back up catcher, Chris Stewart, is terrible, so he gives them 0 Wins.

The Giants are 2.5 games up on the Rockies right now. I had the Rox and Giants about equal coming into the season. If they were equal and the Giants are to lose 3 Wins over the rest of the season, the loss of Posey will cost them the division.

That's not even counting the fact that the Giants have given up more runs than they've scored this season (170-172) while winning 56% of their games while the Rox have scored 17 more runs than they've allowed while only winning 50% of their games.

There are backup catchers around the league, who have a lot of experience and would be productive additions to the Giant's roster. Gerald Laird was the first who came to mind, but he's on the DL too. Pudge Rodriguez is probably available.
