Played for the Yankees or the Red Sox he may have already been a household name. But since he plays on the west coast, most baseball fans have never heard of him.

In just four games, the 6’-3” Cuban in 16 at bats, has 7 hits, three home runs (one being a grand slam) and 9 RBI, all in just four games. He holds a .438 average, and a slugging percentage of 1.063. He has a rocket for an arm, and is as fast as they come. Some have compared him athletically to Bo Jackson.

His recent recall has people who are old enough to remembering what Fernandomania was all about in LA in 1981. Well it is happening again with Yasiel Puig!!

I think that his seven year, 42 million dollar contract brought him to the nation's attention. It isn't as though LA is a tiny media market. If he isn't a household name yet, maybe the fact that he has only played four games is more responsible than the fact that he plays on the west coast. I do not recall playing on the west coast to have caused any sort of publicity deprivation for the above mentioned Valenzuela, nor for Hideo Nomo, and especially not for Ichiro!

Perhaps not, but if he played on the Yankees, ESPN will be eating his story up!! I have yet to see anythign on him on ESPN.

I disagree on his contract giving him national attention, very few fans knew of him even after the contract signing. JMO.

ESPN did a nice little segment on him on Sportscenter last night.

And if he were on the Yankees, ESPN would be talking about how the Yankees went out and bought another player.

Yoenis Cespedes II, it looks like.

Interested to see what Jorge Soler does.

Another homer tonight. That gives him three more than Jacoby Ellsbury.

Almost injured himself by sliding into first base tonight. How many times does this have to be proven to be the worst way to get to first before players will stop doing it?

Three more hits for Puig, in the middle of the lineup, with no one to hit in and no one to drive him in. Now if he would just steal his way around the bases to score, the Dodgers might win.

I hear that, I don't think he has attempted one stolen base yet, and with his speed why not?

There is now talk about Puig being written in to the all star game. Does he deserve it? I think so when you consider Derek Jeter has yet to play and he is a top vote getter. Is the all star game for this year or for what you did in yor career?
