A little excessive, you say. After the Yankees threw $161 million at Sabathia, and then topped that with $180 million to Teixeira, what is the current standard for excessive? Though I must say, it certainly does sound like Atlanta made a bargain-basement signing!
I agree Fred. With all the ridiculous money being thrown around, I guess $15 Mil a year is pennies.
It's funny how one could be insulted by being offered $12 Million a year to PLAY BASEBALL for a living. They're already lucky enough to play a game for money. Jeesh!
Lowe will help the Braves, but I'm not sure it will put them over the Phillies, Mets, or Marlins.
Lowe will help them out a lot .... if he doesn't get hurt. The Braves have been having problems trying to keep their good pitchers from getting injured the past couple years. But they are also going to need @ least 1 more pitcher to try to match the Mets. I also think that the Braves have to try to find someone that can hit the ball. they're best hitter last year was Chipper Jones, My favorite ballplayer, and he got injured like halfway through the season, and wound playing like almost every other game

Well, here's a suggestion for some enterprising General Manager in need of a pitcher: please, please, please make an offer to Pedro Martinez. That way he won't have to be "sitting on the fence" as regards another season with the Mets. Take him off our hands, and we promise to be the most grateful bunch of fans this side of the South Pole!
