I was very surprised that the New York Knicks would bring back Isiah Thomas after all the trouble they had with him. Thomas will function as a "consultant" so maybe he won't be too much of a risk for the Knicks but never-the-less I am puzzled by the decision to have Thomas back on the payroll. Is anyone else as confused as me by this move?
They never really wanted to get rid of him in the first place so I'm not surprised that he's back. However not making him the 'front' man supposedly will keep the heat down. We'll see...
This reminds me of the argument I had with some folks in another thread about why Lebron etc. would not be going to the Knicks. Bad management with horrible decisions one after another.
The homers kept telling me that was a thing of the past...lol.
Who in their right mind would go there for a long contract and trust that they'd build anything of quality and make good decisions? Well, they grossly overpaid Amare so I guess that counts lol.
I think the NY media is already sharpening their knives\pens for what is likely going to be another bad season.
This guy is a cancer and he showed it before. This is a huge mistake. It ranks up there with my Islanders 50 year deal with goalie Rick DiPietro who plays about 2-3 games a year before going out with a season ending injury
It's like the Bricks are that girl in high school that is a bombshell, yet dates the same loser all the way through when she could pretty much choose any guy she wants, and consistently treats her like dirt; they break-up every other day only to get back together the next - NYC has so much to offer w/the MSG and just the area in general (although I'd personally never want to live there) and should be able to get pretty much anyone they want to come to the franchise, yet the consistently return to the loser who at one time wasn't so bad, but now it's just a sad story of co-dependency.
Isiah is back because the MSG chairman Jim Dolan likes him, for whatever reason that may be. Dont act like you all have never worked for a boss who employed some half witted idiot, and kept him/her around just because they liked that person. It happens all the time. The Knicks are hilarious though, you would think after the trouble Isiah caused them he wouldnt even be able set foot in the Garden again.

Dude, I tried to warn you that the Knicks were STILL a train wreck and that they weren't done screwing things up...here was your response. NO ONE should trust that the Knicks have changed at all and that means top tier free agents.
P.S. I do agree that the Knicks *might* have gotten better than last year but I'm not holding my breath. For the amount of cap room they had, I give them a C- for the off-season.

Be careful who you're calling a sucker. If you're asking if I trust the Dolans, my answer would be no way in hell. The thing you have to realize though is that unlike a guy like Steinbrenner who has always been hands on, the Dolans are not. They just like to be viewed in a good light, and rake in cash. Cash is their #1 priority over the perception though. The writing is on the wall too. Walsh will call the shots, if Dantoni stays that helps too because Lebron among others is a big fan of his. The previous deals that brought most of the crap were Isaah deals and he is long gone. Chris Mullin also has been mentioned as possibly joining the organization. Everyone knows Mullin fights for his players too. Personally once again I do think that Lebron staying in Cleveland is good for the NBA because it's a much smaller market that would drop off without him, whereas NY could gain strength with other signings even if Lebron passes. Simple fact is that NY will be a much better team next year with or without Lebron and the puzzle will start to come together. Now if Lebron leaves Cleveland, will the fans still support the Cavs even though it wouldn't be the organizations fault? I hope so. Not a Knicks fan but I would like to see them do well. Maybe he'll go to Golden State and then i'll really have something to cheer about.
