Come on now sheep boy, wouldn't you agree that 10 name changes/relocations in 11 years is a bit ridiculous? Its ok to rag on your favorite sports league now and then. They are bringing this league to my city next year, but do I really want to follow a league that is so freaking unstable?
Sheep boy...?
This and other pro sports leagues are bigger than just what you want or think, ya know. All you've been doing since you've been on here is rag on other sports that aren't soccer and exaggerate every single issue with the NBA and NFL. It's annoying both on a board and in real life.
The worst part of this is, there are local buyers who have made offers on the team who the Maloofs refuse to deal with because they're pissy little girls. The Maloof family's attitude of "if we can't have them, neither can Sacramento" is disgusting. We have some of the best fans in the league (it's our only major league team) but are about to get our hearts ripped out because the current owners have the mentality of five year olds. They can't afford to keep the team, but as they barely own a majority percentage in the franchise, local owners could purchase their portion at a far smaller price. The Maloofs would see the same amount of money coming back to them, the team would avoid having to pay a relocation fee, the $77 million loan would not have to be immediately repaid to the city of Sacramento, the new arena could be built (all but $73 million is being covered by the city and AEG), and Sacramento could keep their only major sports franchise. This could be accomplished at a far lower price than what Balmer and Hansen are paying to buy the team, move it to Seattle, and build a privately funded arena. It's not going to happen, of course, because we're Kings fans and we're used to being screwed. It's nice to know that at least this time some very wealthy people, at significant financial loss to themselves, had to go out of their way to screw us.
The bids to buy the Kings continue today. Could someone who knows business tell me, how much would it hurt Sacramento if the Kings did move out of the area? I ask because the mayor is now offering 425 Mil for them to stay, while investors from the Bay area are offering 525 Mil. Is it worth it?
If the Kings play in Seattle, should they play in the Northwest Division? Who would move to the Pacific Division, Utah or Denver?
They would stay in the Pacific where Sacramento is now. No real reason to move them since all the teams they would play in their division would be right down the West Coast (Lakers, Clippers, Warriors, Blazers), so no need to switch divisions.
And I'm not too sure, but I think the deal is official now...
No franchise will ever be able to erase the legacy of the Seattle Supersonics.
