Magic Johnson played in the '92 game, without playing any season games that year.

Yeah but that was 3 months after he announced he was HIV positive.

Why are people saying that Kyrie Irving deserves to be picked as a starter over John Wall? Yes I am going to naturally defend Wall, but come on, anybody paying attention to both know that Irving is not having a great year and definitely has not played better than Wall.

Kyrie Irving 21.6 ppg 41.3 FG% 6.0 APG 3.0 RPG 1.0 STLPG Team Record: 10-16
John Wall 19.6 ppg 41.8 FG% 9.1 APG 4.3 RPG 2.2 STLPG Team Record: 12-13

Not to mention that Wall is a much better defender. I'm convince that Irving is getting votes and recognition by reputation alone but if anyone is watching both players, Wall has been the more consistently better player this year.

The whole fan vote is just dumb!
Huge amount of kiddos and foreign ball fans with no clue skew the vote towards names the recognize.

The all-star game is worth jack crap anymore in terms of being a real honor, it's the all-nba selections.

Nothing new really, the Yao Ming, McGrady selections a number of years back proved its a farce.

I disagree with you all. Is it a "Best of the East vs Best of the West" no. But it is fan favorites. The players know this, why don't you all get it. That's a huge honor for players, it tells them the fans are behind them and love them. Means more sponsorships and endorsements and trade value.

Players don't get sponsors from
The allstar game. Their trade value doesn't go up or down. Yeah it means the fans love them which means little to nothing in the world of accolades and awards. The only benefit it has for players really, a little bonus. Something like 50k.

The players with anything at stake would rather use that time to rest and heal.

Tim Duncan
Kevin Love
Dirk Nowitzki
Damian Lillard
Chris Paul

Paul George
Roy Hibbert
LeBron James
Rajon Rondo
John Wall

He's one of my favorite players in the league, certainly in the East, and I'm hopeful he'll be back by then since he's cleared 5 on 5.

This is exactly the flaw we're talking about!

Rondo is NOT deserving of an allstar vote, he shouldn't even be on the ballot! Same for Kobe!
