Teammates are definitely important, and Scottie Pippen is generally underated, but Jordan and Kobe never ring chased though. The whole story of Lebron going back to Cleveland was that he knew he could have a younger all star team there especially with someone like Kyrie who he wanted to play with and not having Pat Riley blocking him on trying to run the show.
It makes you wonder how much Cleveland missed Irving last year. Despite James logging record stats and sparking the argument of winning Finals MVP in the losing effort. Lebron's skill and contributions are amazing, but he's shown that he needs that second option to win it all.
every hall of famer champion needed the 2nd option and some cases 3rd option to win championships.
Magic needed Worthy and Kareem. DR J needed Moses Malone, Isiah Thomas needed Joe Dumars.........Jordan needed Pippen.....Byrd needed Mchale ....Koby needed Shaq and later Gasol.....Pierce needed Garnett and Allen ...Lebron needed Wade in Miami......Duncan needed Parker and Kawhi Leonard on and on and on.
Of course Lebron was short handed last year....2nd and 3rd best scorer of the Cavs were out and Lebron had to play with a bunch of "B" players.......winning 2 games against the Warriors who were loaded (better team last year in my opinion) with David Lee was a very good accomplishment for Lebron under the circumstances with a NEW COACH who was way over his head and new system.
If you take out the 2nd and 3rd best scorer of your team, I doubt your team makes it to the finals.
NBA and refs should get a ring for this one. The flopper hadn't won an honest championship.
The Flopper wins a championship regardless since Anderson "Andy" Varegao was a member of the Cavaliers earlier in the season and was picked up by the Golden State Warriors before deadline, so yes, it is official, in a trivia question for future years the Flopper has gotten a championship!

Except Kobe refused to go to Charlotte, had to go to LA. Is that not ring chasing? MJ and Kobe both had great teams, superior to Lebron's teams, not to mention the greatest coach of all time. You can say MJ is better than Lebron, you can even make an argument for Kobe. But no one has ever done more with less than James.
But no one has ever done more with less than James.
That's what I take issue with, and is why I don't want to forget what Irving accomplished this series. Lebron has logged Hall of Fame statistics, but he needs All-Star teammates, or he'll win 3 rings in 13 years-- which contradicts the "more with less" claim.
Did you expect Lebron to win it all last year without Irvin?
Doesn't mean we hand Irvin the MVP for being the second best player on the court and being available this time.
I remember the days when Lebron was expected to win it all with Mo Williams. We've seen the reality-- he needs a star backup in Wade (before age caught up with him) or Irving, and Bosh/Love.
