Seems like the area is up and coming as a place to live. If I got transferred I'd strongly consider downtown. Although many parts of the city could use a fresh coat of paint if you know what I mean.

Happys was good, loved the outfits

Just to give everyone an update, I have been living in downtown Baton Rouge for about 2 months now. Luckily, I have night classes, so I am able to avoid most of the traffic jams.

I really enjoy living downtown! Its in the middle of everything. On the other hand, my apartment complex is... ok. Now that I am situated, I give this place a 7/10. Its not the prettiest place and the layout sucks. Other than that, the staff is nice, neighbors are great, and I can always find a parking spot.

Do I regret moving downtown. Not at all! 8)

Uh , no . It's not . Not even close to " everything " . But as long as you're content , that's all that matters .

Timbuktu is "not even close to everything". I'll agree that downtown is not necessarily the center of popular commerce for Baton Rouge, but it's plenty convenient enough depending on one's definition of "everything".

Sorry it took me so long to reply. I've been caught up with school & traveling. I actually live in the Lake Towers apartment complex. The apartments aren't spacious but they are sufficient and safe. What I really love about the complex is the easy access to the interstate.

I should have defined "middle of everything" as everything important to me. I actually enjoy things like farmers markets, running in the park, and the various downtown activities. On top of that, its close enough to school for me.

You give Lake Towers a 7/10? You should really raise your standards.

Be prepared to pay the extra local tax in the form of stuff that will be stolen from you.

Downtown has been "up and coming" for the past 8 years. it's peak was probably 3 years ago.
