Laminate is a great choice especially with pets as long as it's good quality - waterproof - and you get someone who knows how to install it correctly. Like anything, you get what you pay for.

I've only ever seen two of them available used, there aren't many of them around. They were typically installed back in the early '50's, I think. One of them was at a yard sale and they were asking $500 for it, which is serious money at a yard sale. The other one was the one we saw on Craig's List for a couple hundred and pounced on it right away.

There's one place I've seen them available online, although they weren't cheap at all, let alone the shipping: Elkay Double SS sink with drainboards I was thinking of just sucking it up and buying one anyway since that's one of the major 'wants' on my list of things for the next house, but finding it on Craig's List was way better.

A less expensive and probably more durable (although it's already pretty durable) option may have been: commercial kitchen SS sink with drainboards The second option would need a custom cabinet to set it into, but that could have been done. Would have had some interesting faucet choices, too.
