Boise State plays a joke of a schedule. Join a real conference and then you can talk.

Nothing more annoying every college football season than listening to Herbstreit and the boys pimp the Boise hype machine after an opening week win over a BCS opponent that later proves to be overrated (i.e. VA Tech 2010, Georgia 2011) and continue to ride it through their cupcake schedule as they rack up wins over the San Jose States, Toledos, and New Mexico States of the world.

Thank God the juggernaut powerhouse of Nevada (arguably the best team BSU played in 2010 - LOL) showed them what's up last year, quieting the Boise homer crybabies who actually had the audacity to argue that BSU should be considered for the title game over Oregon and/or Auburn. Also thank God for the very few talking heads, notably Mark May and Craig James, who actually use logic to analyze Boise's accomplishments instead of buying into the hype.

Boise fans constantly ask, "What more can we do to gain respect?" The answer is simple: join a real frigg'n conference! Going from the WAC to the Mountain West was a lateral move AT BEST. Why not sack up and join the Pac 12? If you did that and still pulled 11 and 12 win seasons every year, you would have respect.

You're a moron.

You really think it's as easy as snapping our fingers and joining a conference? Lulz.

Utah did it. But then again, they were able to meet the academic requirements of the Pac-12, which is rumored to be an issue with Boise State. I understand it must be tough for you guys to keep up in the classroom with such bastions of knowledge as Oregon State.

"Lulz" is right!!!

The Pac 12 invited Utah because they're in the SLC market and were travel partners with Colorado who joined at the same time, plus they're both major research universities. You can't just " join a conference" what an ignorant thing to say. You think Boise State willingly chooses to be a non AQ?

Typical BCS fan snob who "knows the facts" but in fact knows nothing. Let's present some facts shall we:

1) First and Foremost, sorry to shatter your little "play in a real conference bubble" but guess what? It is FIRST AND FOREMOST ABOUT MONEY and MEDIA MARKETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Take a look at the Boise area media market, it ranks quite low compared to your average BCS team, Boise State also needs a stadium which seats no less than 50K and although plans are in the works to do just that in stages over the next several years, it isn't there yet. Also when you take a look at school endowments another glaring fact comes to light, you cite Utah as an example so I will use that. Utah has over a $500 million endowment, which makes them richer than Oregon, Oregon State, Arizona and Arizona State in the PAC12. Colorado is at over $600 million. The poorest school with a football team in any BCS Conference is UConn in the Big East at $254 million. Boise State is at a whopping $61 million, making them rank at #110 out of 120 FBS football programs in terms of endowment.

2) The PAC12 likes research institutions, which Utah is and has been for years, Boise State is not. So you are correct in that sense that Academics is part of it.

3) As mentioned in the post above you have to be invited to a conference, you don't just walk up to them and say sign me up, it's more like applying for membership at an exclusive country club. If you don't have enough money you aren't getting in. Boise State was never invited and they had two choices, stay in the WAC or move to the Mountain West, Boise State chose the MWC as they thought that BYU and TCU were staying, they didn't learn of their defections until after they joined. Even so it is a small improvement over the WAC, as they do get TCU for this season and the following season all of the WAC schools who produce winning seasons will be on board and they still have Air Force and a San Diego State program that is on the rise. So they do gain two more teams with winning seasons on their schedule in conference than they had in the WAC.

4) While you are discussing the merits of the almighty PAC12 conference, and making fun of Boise State's "cupcake schedule" let's have a look at the PAC12's performance thus far this season shall we? Don't get me wrong I think that Stanford and Oregon are great teams but beyond that what do you have:

USC-Usually a pretty decent team but as of the last couple of seasons they have been inconsistent at best they lost to Arizona State already this season with the potential for several more losses. They also scraped by with a win over Big 10 powerhouse Minnesota, New Mexico State beat Minnesota by the same margin this season.

Arizona State-A great team although they did already lose to Illinois (a team that has built it's wins this season off of 2 FCS Schools and Western Michigan-a bottom feeder from the MAC Conference). Last year's 8-5 Fresno State team downed Illinois.

Arizona-I'm sorry but this team is just plain awful starting at 1-3 and their only win is over Northern Arizona.

Utah-Not a bad team, they destroyed BYU in handy fashion but lost their season opener on their home turf to USC in that controversial game where the score was changed after the fact.

UCLA-Another awful team, suffering an embarrassing loss of over 20 points on their home turf to Texas, lost to C-USA team Houston and pulled out a whopping 10 point win over San Jose State.

Washington-Barely squeaks by FCS opponent Eastern Washington with a 3 point victory, gets the crappola beaten out of them by Nebraska which may or may not be a good team this year. Fresno State had the same point spread with Nebraska

Cal-Lost to the aforementioned Washington team and beat that super impressive Colorado team by a whopping 3 points in OT.

Oregon State-These guys are in the running with New Mexico for the worst team in college football. They lost on their home turf to FCS team Sacramento State and are currently 0-3 (finishing last week with a loss to the aforementioned UCLA powerhouse).

Washington State-Off to a great start at 2-0 (with wins over FCS opponent Idaho State and then followed by a win over UNLV). One major problem though, they were destroyed for an 18 point loss by a "cupcake" on Boise State's schedule (San Diego State).

Colorado-Off to a 1-3 start including a solid loss to Hawaii, Hawaii then turn around and suffered a 20 point loss to UNLV. Colorado's only win thus far is a 2 TD victory over Colorado State

The point is that outside of Oregon and Stanford you have a couple of teams that may or may not be good and a bunch of inconsistent and sub-par performers this season. In years past your argument would've held up but definitely not this year.

They won't add Boise for the reasons I mentioned above, unless it was a last option.

If Mizzou goes to the SEC, which looks like out's going to happen, the Big 12 will add four teams to bring the league back up to twelve; WVU/Louisville and BYU/Boise. Regarding market size, the entire country is our market. We have become a household brand like ND, and like ND as many people watch us because they hate us than watch us because they love us, but ultimately it doesn't matter, they watch. Our game against VT was the highest rated non bowl of all of last year, our bowl game against Homa is consistently ranked as one of the greatest games of all time, our game against UGA drew very well, despite being on against Oregon/LSU and as another poster stated, our game against Toledo a couple of weeks ago was the highest rated MAC home game ever and contrary to popular belief, MAC schools have hosted several bcs teams. We have consistently pulled very high numbers for ESPN for almost a decade, so yes, our "market" spans the entire country. Wilner is very well connected in the sports world and this rumor is spreading like wildfire. If it comes true, I will be ecstatic.
