Here in eastern PA there are anti hispanic/ white pride flyers distributed regularly in Allentown due to having a large Puerto Rican population.

You see them on grocery store bulletin boards and slipped under wiper blades in mall parking lots.

I lived in Helena Montana for 14 years leaving in 2008.

In Helena, Great Falls, Missoula, Bozeman and Billings there are active chapters of the National Alliance, The American Nazi Party and the KKK.

Based on this reality it is not unreasonable to think that Idaho being next door would also have active chapters of all three groups within it's borders.

Due to the Obama administration coming into power in 2009 the number of hate groups has grown exponentially to epic proportions.

Just because you don't see it in Boise doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
Correct, but it isn't anything near what the national press trys to portray to a naieve American public who eats up any kind of news. Every state has hate groups and racism is much more noticeable in most major cities around the country compared to the states in the Intermountain West and Pacific Northwest. Most of the hate groups have a small number of followers, and most of those are likely people who moved to Idaho from other states. I think the racial & murderous antics going on in Chicago are much more alarming then a few hate groups with 10 people hiding out in the mountains away from civilization. The Black Panthers seemed to start making more news after Obama was elected.

This is very true. I agree.

Hate groups here on the east coast are extremely active comparatively to what you find out west.
I believe the reason for this is that there are simply more targets in which to aim at..

Living in Idaho and Montana there are statistically no minority groups as a whole in which to demonize as it compares to the east and west coasts.

Even the illegal alian problems that plague Colorado and points south and west don't make it that far north.

Here in Allentown blacks, Puerto Ricans and Dominicans are future hate crime victims.

Default hate groups

I saw an article about this in the Idaho Statesmen today. It really surprised me. I agree with Benchfan on this too. I think most people that live in Boise are mortified by this event. I am new to Boise and it's been
my experience that people here are very friendly to everyone they meet.

Again, this is overstated. It is simply because Idaho is white, so if a few people don't like another group the whole state is racist. Just like California is "dangerous" although many of the safest cities in the country are here.

Pretty much EVERY gang in LA could be a hate group. Hispanics going after black gangs, or the reverse. I get really sick of people assuming that I'm a racist based on the fact I'm from Idaho. I also get sick of people that only call white people out for being racist.

You also have to watch out for definitions of "hate groups" as promulgated by outfits like the Southern Poverty Law Center, which have a vested interest in maintaining tension -- without it, they're out of business. Anyone who disagrees with another group or sets themselves apart may be hung with the label of "hate group". Frex, I've seen Jewish education outfits so-labeled.

"There is a class of colored people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances because they do not want to lose their jobs. There is a certain class of race-problem solvers who don't want the patient to get well."

Well said. I'd give you 10 rep points if I could for this one. I don't buy into what SPLC says since (IMO) they are so politicized (but that's a whole 'nother debate). Maintaining dissension has tragically become a national cottage industry, and places like Idaho suffer for it because of the lack of racial diversity which can make us a place where white supremacists THINK they may find adherents to their causes. I've long maintained that urban SoCal, where I patrolled as a cop, had the most racial tension and racial intolerance and racial hatred I've ever seen, and I've run into more nazi skinheads there (even per capita in contract cities we patrolled of similar size to our cities here) than I ever have here in Idaho.

As boi2socal said...SoCal is FULL TO THE BRIM of "hate groups" of all races who are truly dangerous...at least here in Idaho it's a couple weirdos that print leaflets who get no respect from ANYONE. Clearly identifiable and just as easy to ignore on the minuscule off chance you should ever actually cross paths.
