I just love it so much when I find a really good book. I'm triple happy because I just finished a book like that, that is the first book in a trilogy.

The trilogy is called "A horseman riding by", and the first volume is, "Long summer day", by R.F. Delderfield. I have read a few of his in the past and really loved them so I really wonder about myself not reading more of an author that I find and like. It's probaby because I buy almost all my books at thrift stores and buy what they have. I'm heading off to the used book store first thing tomorrow though and buy the three volumes in hardback. So much for the work I had planned for the next few days!!!LOL

Another book of his I read last year and found it really great was , "To serve them all of their days".

I just finished Some Girls, My life in a Harem by Jillian Lauren.

I was totally surprised by just how good it is. I really have to compare it to Patti Smith's Just Kids. Just Kids is the better book by far but Lauren's book is good. I was kind of sad when I finished it. No, the ending is not sad. It's simply a story about a complicated young woman who is never quite sure what she wants. It's an autobiography with peaks and valleys....much like most of our own unwritten autobiographies. The exception is that she was in a harem in Brunei for a while and that story is fascinating.

It's well written, too. I found only one error when the author used "than" rather than "then." That particular error drives me insane when I see it and that is probably because I have a tough time explaining the difference to other folks.

I'm reading Ayaan Hirsi Ali's second book, Nomad, now. Pretty good but this one is more introspective and philosophical than her first one, Infidel. She has some very good insight into why so many immigrants to Western countries who come from the rat holes of the world do not assimilate well and gather in their own third world ghettos.

I'm reading a new, free book on my new Kindle.

The reason I am able to do this is because of DAWN. D&J
We were on the phone this morning and she walked me through the download of the FREE book. It was a bit complicated because I don't have WiFi but she knew exactly what to do.

That girl walks on water. I promise she does.

I just finished Her Last Death by Susanna Sonnenberg

You can go to Amazon to read reviews/what it is about.
It left me with a bad taste only because I cannot believe how wacko her mother was--very strange woman.

Guess addiction to drugs and whatever else will do that to you, plus the woman was obviously mentally ill.

I am a fan of reading biographies and autobiographies so if you want any recommendations, let me know and I will try to help you out.

Ella Minnow Pea by Mark Dunn.

It's slow going because I have a terrible sinus headache (or migraine; I don't know, but my teeth hurt, too, so I guess it's sinus-related) and can't read more than a few pages at a time. But I *am* enjoying it when I've been able to read. Such a sweet and clever book.
