This is almost paperback price!

Moderator Cut: Yup, not permitted.

Members: Please check online sources with recent price changes.
Thanks! I wasn't too sure about that, but do appreciate your clarification! I'll be more careful now that I am a little smarter.

The library has a copy of Elephants for me! Great timing since I finished my IRL book club book 2 days ago.

However, I'm like #120 for 1000 Suns

Water for Elephants was a bit disappointing, but I'll save it for our discussion.
Of interest, Afghanistan has just banned the movie version of The Kite Runner. The novel has not been banned because its printed in English and most Afghans can't read English.

Thanks, tigerlily, for this bit of information. I don't find it surprising, and rather find it more amazing that they are permitting the book to stay in the country, English or otherwise.

Here's my update:

- I have heard from very few members that they have read any of the three selections, but I am keeping a record of who has said or acknowledged they have either finished or were able to get the book(s) of their choice.

- We haven't heard from some of the original members, and I am going to assume that they still on-board and experienced no problems, and are enjoying a good read

- I have two of the three books myself, and will take part in those discussions and moderate all three--unless I get a volunteer!

- AND, my computer is seriously in trouble, and I am going to a local shop tomorrow to see if they can help me straighten out the problem(s)--unfortunately, more than one. If they can fix the computer, I will be off-line for several days after they get the parts and do the repair.

- In addition, we are on track with our original reading-discussion schedule of on/about February 1.

Enjoy the reading!!

Well, ontheroad, consider this Alpha reporting in!

I'm trying to get through Water for Elephants, but so far I'm largely unimpressed. I can tell you, if it were not for this group and specifically you, I'd be done with it.(as in, wouldn't finish it)

But for the sake of the discussion, I'm marching on!!
