I am looking for a book that I read about six years ago while in the home of the parents of a friend of mine. They had the book because one of their daughters was mentioned as a 'witness' and the crime had happened in their town. I could ask my friend for the title of the book, but she made it clear at that time that she didn't like the book and wasn't at all happy about her sister's treatment by the author.

Anyway, the crime(s) happened in and around Placerville, CA, in the 1980s or so (could be a bit earlier or later) and involved two girls as the killers. For some reason I have completely blanked, not only on the author, but on the title of the book as well. I do know the author was not Ann Rule - I just looked at a list of her books and nothing there sparked my memory.

Anyone know the name of this book, the author or anything about the crime it's about?

When you say "girls" do you mean young girls? Teens, or younger?

Do you remember anything about the person they murdered?

Ann rule is my favorite author...

I remember the two girls being teens - either high school age or just out of high school - and the victim I think was the foster mother of one of them.

MsMq,
You might want to check to see if the SACRAMENTO BEE has an online archive of articles available. Placerville is fairly close to Sacramento and I am sure any Sacramento papers would have covered a sensational murder like that. I hope I got the name of that paper right. I used to visit Sacramento quite often during the 70's and 80's and I am pretty sure that was the name of one of their papers.
