How is that area? Is it more or less safe, or is it one of those places where one would need a bulletproof vest and a heavy machine gun whenever he dares to go outside?

Don't know about the street.

However, here's a link to the Boston police department crime map

smarty: i dont know if it would be appropriate to laugh at that website, but all those guns are hilarious. couldn't they have just used a black dot instead? looks more professional that way.

I have no idea. May be they want to be more dramatic as they are mostly fire arm or murder crime.

Default King St safe

The whole area of Dorchester east of Dorchester Ave is pretty good, including Neponset, Popes Hill, Cedar Grove, and Ashmont. Trouble zones include Bowdoin St and Norfolk St and some of the side streets off those. Lots of gentrification in Dorchester, especially where there's really nice housing, like Ashmont, the Melville Ave area, and on Jones Hill near Uphams Corner. Savin Hill good too, as one poster comments. King St is a solid, stable, safe area. Close to the Patrick O'Hearn School, one of the more desireable of the BPS elementary schools.

king st. is a quiet area off of dorchester ave. i have family who live on king st. there are a lot of police who actually live in the area. its close to ashmont station. the deeper you go into king st. the more suburban it become with the urban influences around it. you rarely hear about crime in the area, but it's also not far from crime as well, not far at all
