NY2Cairo is on a distinguished road
Default Cairene & NYer considering a move

Hello,

My husband is from Cairo and a year ago I dragged the poor guy from one of the biggest cities in the world to Tucson AZ while I finished up college. Now Im almost finished and Im definitely seeing that he (we) need to move to a bigger city.

I too would appreciate going someplace more metropolitan than Tucson but at the same time Im from Rochester, NY and NYC scares me. I want a place to raise kids but still diverse, preferably with a decent Muslim presence. Also, having a good job market that would cater to people with overseas and bilingual skills would be a plus.

So tell me about your city! Thank you.

What type of work are you looking for? A friend of mind has a translation business and is often looking for new people to do translation work for her clients (usually law firms, banks, etc.) I'm not sure if that's what you meant though.

Re: cities to live in, how about Cambridge, MA? It's a diverse community with lots to do. Cambridge and Boston are certainly not large cities but have lots to offer in terms of culture, recreation, shopping, dining, etc. I know there's an Islamic Society office there (The Islamic Society of Boston) and a few of the universities have their own Islamic Society groups.
