Very exciting and so sweet that you are putting so much thought into it!
I love the area of Rowe's Wharf (Columbus Park). Here's a link that may help:
The Boston Harborwalk
Another thought, if you can sail, you can rent a sail boat on the Charles River. Not quite sure what time of year they're available, though.

One other thing I just thought of. Not Boston, though. You could take the ferry to Provincetown. One of the most beautiful places I've ever seen is Race Point Beach.

The sunsets are stunning and March will be chilly but the setting is spectacular!

yes my original thought was to do all of this at Martha's Vineyard..but getting there and everything seemed like a big hassel for only going for 2 days.
and about the sailing, I wish I could..but im not too thrilled with boat rides like that! haha

How about the Arnold Arboreteum? It's so beautiful in the spring. Although we went on mother's day one year and it was packed. You might be better off going on a Friday afternoon in May vs. a Saturday or Sunday. Arnold Arboretum
Another thought: the lovely courtyard at the Isabella Stuart Gardner Museum: Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum - That might work in March or May.
A note about the boat idea. Just a word of caution, the water here can sometimes be choppy. In case either of you is prone to seasickness, just something to be aware of!

You could probably just hire a water taxi and have them go around the harbor, a single trip is about $10 from the aquarium and the airport for instance. I don't know if the operators would do that but they are all private and have their own license so they might have some discretion (for some extra pay maybe). And I think they run year round.

What about in the courtyard of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum? Museums are cool places.
