Harvard Square, JFK Library, North End, Harbor cruise, even the short one...................Beacon Hill, Public Garden, Top of the
Hub at the Pru. Walk along the Charles on the Cambridge side from the BU end, west to Beacon Hill.......................you should be good. Enjoy.............oh, and Saturday morning? the Haymarket outdoor (and indoor) food market and walk the Rose Kennedy Greenway(which is fantastic) after that go get a cappucino in the North End and pastry at Modern, or if later in morning? Get a pizza at the original Regina on Thatcher St, on the edge of the North End close to the Greenway . Any repeats from people above, my apologies. I just had to jump in. :-)

I'm not really sure what you're asking. Yes, those all sound like great things to do. Are you asking for more? It depends on how long you are here, where you are staying, what you like to do, what you want to spend, etc.

Try searching Groupon for whale watches. I actually did one last weekend out of Gloucester for $46 for two people. If you do that one, you have buy the Groupon and then make a reservation by calling the Whale Watch company. Gloucester's a cool town too (check out Cape Ann Brewing after). Each trip on a whale watch is different, so YMMV. In my experience, most are pretty good. The one we did last weekend was sort of underwhelming (we saw two whales), but the last few I've done have been incredible (I've posted pictures on C-D). If you can do it, Provincetown is the best place to go on a Whale Watch by far. All of the boats in MA go to the same area (Stellwagen Bank) right off of the tip of Provincetown. So if you go from Boston, Plymouth, Gloucsester, etc. a big part of the whale watch is the trip to/from Stellwagen Bank. Our outing was about 4.5-5 hours out of Gloucester. a 3 hour P-Town whale watch will have just as many (if not more) whales. In fact, you can often see them from the beach in Provincetown. Google Plymouth Whale Watch, Boston Whale Watch and Gloucester Whale Watch. They're all comparable so just go with the cheapest/best time for you. If you won't have a car, I'd rule out Plymouth. Gloucester is on the commuter rail and you could easily take the train and catch the 1:30 boat. Boston would be even easier if the price would work.

Wander around North End (Italian neighborhood) and have lunch or get a dessert there. Other new hype dining places that you can wander into and decide are the Public Market (near Fanueil Hall) and Eatery (inside the Prudential Mall). It's an eye candy for anyone who is a foodie.

With just a weekend, decide if you want to stay within Boston (which is actually pretty small) or do those day trips. Walking tours - Boston by Foot- is usually pretty interesting and there are diff themes to choose from.
