Hello,

Like everyone else, we would love to move to the Boulder vicinity but can't afford $500K for a house.

I would appreciate any advice but, in particular, does anyone have an thoughts on the East Foothills area. It's just west of Flairtrons golf course.

Thanks,
Stephano

Nothing wrong with the East Foothills area. Lovely views of Mount Toll on the Continental Divide, and the closer-in Flatiron rock formations from there.

That is south-central Boulder, more or less. That was the last part of town I lived in before moving away from CO. I found a lot of good things about that location.

Namely, from there, it is very convenient to hop on the turnpike (US 36) down to Denver. It's also easy to cut west right over to Hwy 93 south to get to Hwy 72 (Coal Creek Canyon), Golden and I-70.

That's a big plus when you consider that many times just driving from one end of Boulder to another can take 25 minutes in bumper-to-bumper traffic, so to avoid that hassle is really nice.

Also, you are close to Baseline road for a real quick ride up to Chatauqua Park (where all the great hiking trails lead out of) and to access the Flagstaff mountain area.

You are also nearby the commercial districts of Boulder along 28th and 30th streets where all the retail and stores 'n stuff are located.

Good luck!

I agree with the PP; it's a nice area. If you have kids, Eisenhower elementary school is in the Arapahoe Ridge subdivision and there is a nice park next to the school. In addition to the easy highway and downtown Boulder access, you also have easy access to the Boulder creek path and good bus service on either Arapahoe or Baseline roads. It's predominately single family homes, but there are also some townhomes as well. It's definitely a quieter part of town with a lot of families.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

The East Foothills homes seemed more reasonbly priced.

Be careful. The area near Lake Marshall has a closed landfill under it. PCB's and whatnot have gotten into the water in the direction of Lafayette(?) I believe.

Just Google on "Marshall Landfill Supersite" and go from there.

What does this have to do with the OP's question about the area west of Flatirons Golf Course?

I take it that's no longer still lingering in Louisville's water?

Not that I'm aware of. You can probably find Louisville's water quality report on its city website. We get one mailed to us every year.
