OK,
I am getting into this whole Buffalo Fish Fry thing, and was wondering what are some of the best places to go for a Fish Fry? I have tried Grover's, Hayes Seafood House and of course Wegmans for take out. I heard the Hideaway in N. Tonawanda is good too!
Where should I go next?

I know what you mean about the restaurants. You could live here for years and never hit them all!
Does anyone have any favorite "hole in the wall" places that you go to that serves great food, but that you probably wouldn't go to unless you knew about it, or it has always been there? I used to go to a place back home, called Russo's that was a dive, but they had the best roast beef sandwiches on home made Italian bread. The sandwiches had to be 5 inches thick. YUUUMMMM!

Try GDI's in Alden on Sandridge Road. Every kind of fish, fish platter and 5 kids of fish fry ( some breaded/ some broiled / some grilled)

There used to be a place in the Darien/Alden area called The Greenwoods... on Broadway, that had the best one in the area in my opinion... anyone know if its still there or not? I worked there part time in the late 70's as a dishwasher for extra money when I was in high school... quit mid shift on a Friday night when me and my buddy took our break outside and smoked too much Thai stick to even think about walking back in... talk about po'd waitresses... dirty dish stacks three feet tall coming into the kitchen through the hanging rubber buffers... and us long gone... Anyone know if the place is still there? or, Beachy's for that matter?

There was a fish restaurant I used to go to when I lived there called Bailey Seafood. It's on Bailey Avenue (I believe the intersecting street is LaSalle Avenue). All sorts of fish, scallops, hush puppies, etc. you could get from there.

Beachy's has had multiple reincarnations. It goes belly up, revives the next year, etc. etc. Don't know the current name -- think it is closed for winter.
Unless Greenwoods is a different name, it isn't there. There was a place out past Darien called the Timberwolf -- huge pinkish stucco building -- south side of Broadway that closed recently. Can't think of anything else that would fit the bill.
