LA Times:

California added jobs for a fifth straight month in May, but the positions weren't the type economists like to see.
Some were temporary census jobs that will disappear during the summer. Others were jobs snagged by people who wanted full-time work but could find only part-time positions.
Though the state added 28,300 jobs to payrolls in May, economists say the types of jobs added indicate that the state's economy still faces big problems ahead.
The state experienced losses in construction, trade and the traditionally strong education and health services sector. Those losses were offset by 30,000 federal government positions that were mostly census jobs.

Temporary employment is always the first thing to increase, companies are cautious when they start hiring again.

The census jobs are not unique to California, nationally its the same story. Unemployment is going to be high across the country for years....unless republicans happen to read "The general theory of employment, interest and money".

No, in Texas government didn't added jobs (-1,100) but Texas added 43,000 jobs from the private sector.
About your book, I'm not agree...Keynesianism is dead now, Paul Krugman too.In Europe (where I live) we're in the era of the austerity, a come back of the monetarism. The US too after November.

The Census most certainly created jobs in Texas, though their non-census job growth is higher than California at the moment.

The truth never dies, the fact that its politically unpopular with the republican party is irrelevant. What does Krugman have to do with this?

Yes and as a result they will have an era of poverty. Europe is increasingly irrelevant though, other nations learned long ago that the advice Europe gives only serves its aims and not theirs. Ironically the current positions are horrible for most of Europe as well, they primarily benefit France and Germany.

Don't worry though, when the European economy collapses the Americans, Chinese, etc will ship you some food.
