We go there and love it. Why would you think it is not safe?

Some parks I've been to have shady activity that takes place at night. I wondered due to it's close proximity to LA if this were the case at Malibu Creek as well.

Only nocturnal activities I have had problems with was deer and bear looking for handouts. Got shaken down one night by a band of raccoons.

i remember waaay back in my hs yrs partying up at Malibu Creek. it was like a mini-rave! But that was over a decade ago and i'm not sure if there's more enforcement/patrols or not. May be call up ppl at REI or Adventure16 or Patagonia and see if they've heard of any "problems"

The current camp rate in state parks is $50 a night or so. Almost cheaper to hotel it.

Does anyone need to ask why we love California.

I love the drive from Oxnard to Malibu on the PCH. Like you said, you just can't beat the view.
