Maybe our public schools are really bad, or maybe a certain segment of society checks out when it comes to critical thinking (so much work ya know!) I think most people do not know the difference between Marxism and Socialism. And they equate Socialism with Marxism

Raising our retirement age will not save social security unless we raise it to age 85. That would save social security. When it was put into place the majority of people didn't live to their 60's. I say if you want to save it raise the age to 85 and increase from there. People are livinb longer and at best this is a safety net program for those that did not save on their own. I mean who could live on the meager amount that they want to give you anyway? Better yet have the govenment get out of the business and allow us to invest that money on our own.

You are espousing a radical Tea Party principle that is so out of sync with the majority of Americans and will never prevail.

You need to understand how other countries report things like infant mortality and are you aware we have one of the highest rate of cancer survivors? Of course you are not. You see things from a socialistic view. Check how some are feeling about their socialistic countries right now. You might get a rude awakening..

this is so far wrong that it is laughable. Volunteer firemen are on the way out in favor of paid firemen, as volunteers cannot put in the training hours. and the rest of your sentence is as accurate as your first.

Pretty much the only volunteer departments left are rural.

the non thinkers will always bring up American Cancer survivor rates, and conviniently ignore every other catagory. America ranks well below other modern industrial nations in nearly every important category, but the naive people that believe what the rightwing whackos tell them pay no attention.

Today I got an email from a rightwing friend warning America that Obama and the Democrats were not going to give a COLA on social security for the first time ever.

A quick check of Factcheck.org and we find out that the Cola in question is tied to the cost of living index which has gone down under Obama, and yes, there will be no Cola increase, but it is automatic and neither the President nor Congress has anything to do with it..

Are these people(tea partiers) really ideologically driven or are they just selfish and cheap and especially hate the idea of one dime of their money going to minorities? Maybe I'm way out of line but that's my perception and likely the perception of the majority of middle of the road folks. Odd how there wasn't all this fervor doing the fake Bush boom years. Only when there's a black president and the economy is bad do they come crawling up out of the muck.

By the way, I still consider myself a Rockefeller Republican.

Yeah, it always makes me laugh when I read someone commenting on Marxist communism; it's like they are stuck in the 1950's and don't read newspapers or don't read at all
