In a house. Or when I was living in an apartment, I said "I'm living in an apartment."

In terms of geographic location, I think most people can understand "Los Angeles" or "LA" the most, unless someone asks me "where in LA?" to which I say "The San Fernando Valley" or "The Valley." It's kind of funny, but I've seen people who've tattooed "818" on the side of their heads, as if they forget where they live. LOL!

Here's how mine goes when I go to California to visit:

Californian: Where you from:
Me: Indiana
Californian: Oh, I'm sorry.

----OR----

Californian: Where you from?
Me: Indiana
Californian: Oh, isn't that state next to Nebraska?
Me:

----OR----

Californian: Where you from?
Me: Indiana
Californian: Indiana...hmmmm, I hear it's cheap to live there.
Me: Yeah, you get what you pay for.

If I'm talking to someone that is not from California I say I live a bit outside of San Francisco.

If I'm talking to someone from Southern California I say I'm from the Bay Area.

If I'm talking to someone from Northern California I say the East Bay.

I was born in Sacremento, lived there till I was 5, then lived in Auburn till I was 21. Beautiful country! And no, I never saw or met anyone famous either LOL...till I moved to Santa Barbara.

My folks live in Nevada City. I love it up there in the the gold country. It is truly home.

If someone asks me where I live I will usually say Orange County, most out of state people I have meet know where that is. I really don't care if they don't know where OC is, so i will usually just start another conversation at that point
