So you're "Really sick of California" because one of the 58 counties is dragging its feet about a birth certificate.

I'm really sick of commercial license holders because their wives complain too much.

If you are moving state lines getting your birth certificates before you move is essential, state governments often require it for all sorts of things.

Have you ever actually seen an illegal alien's "birth certificate"? Or is this just another "Doddism"
Actually it isn't worth the cost to travel from Missouri to California and back.

In this economy one would think the govt. would be a little more forthcoming with items that would allow people to obtain employment.

No actually I'm sick of California for a number of reasons but this particular time is yet another instance California can't get it's act together and do something in a timely manner.

We're just real careful here in Missouri. Don't want to end up in the same mess that California's in. You'll be glad one day.

Yeah I never complained about the requirement of producing a certified b/c and in fact I agree with that practice, my issue is with Ca. telling us they can't produce one for 14 weeks.

To me it seems that the problem is exactly on the opposite end. In this economy, one would think the govt. would be a little more inclined to allow people to get jobs without requiring a piece of paper that has no photo and is useless for identification purposes. If they are so concerned about illegal aliens, surely there are better ways.

Budgets of virtually every CA state service have been cut repeatedly since 2007, because state tax collections are down and evil Republicans in state legislature are opposed to any attempts to finance these services properly.

Your intentions are irrelevant. Geography is all that matters.

He has a copy of a birth certificate from ages ago but it isn't certified like he needs.

We understand and agree with the policy to provide a b/c for the license. No problem there.

But... The state of California (this particular county) mailed us a notice this may take up to 14 weeks. Yes fourteen weeks to get a certified copy of my husbands b/c. WTH is with that. They actually mailed us a little card after getting our request and money. I've got to wonder why they can't just use the employees who mail out those cards to go find the damn cert. This time frame is unacceptable.

I had to get one for my youngest son ( a cert b/c) from another Ca. county and it took less than 2 weeks so we thought this wouldn't be a big deal until the notice arrived stating how long it will take. I still can't believe it!

This job isn't going to wait that long.

Possibly you could call the Hall of Records in Alameda county (where supposedly you can get certified copy of BC on the spot), ask them if a relative or friend can pick it up for you?? Then relative can mail it to you much sooner. Explain your circumstances to them.

Your comments are irrelevant. Society matters just as much. We're preserving ours. You're "celebrating" yours away.

We will call them and see if anything can be done sooner. We don't have anyone close enough to go there.
