Entitlements took down GM & Chrystler. Unfunded Entitlements will take down California & the USA. The USA has $112 Trillion worth of unfunded mandates. There is not enough earnings to tax in order to pay for that.

Maybe not, perhaps it is the state workers who will get left holding the empty bag. When times get tough, the rats start eating each other.

Quite true ... and in some places, people eat rats, too

What absolutely appalls me is the glee with which some anticipate that happening. I believe that a plurality of state workers went into that career pattern precisely because the benefits were so good, especially back when the remuneration wasn't so hot. They stayed partly because there was the promise of good benefits continuing for life into retirement.

In other words, they made a knowing choice in careers that many if not most could have made but chose not to for one reason or the other. The primary reason was the promise of better pay and quick riches. Now that it's unfortunately not turned out that way for for them, they begrudge and condemn those who followed a different path and still have some security.

Rats? You bet! I envision them rubbing their filthy little paws with glee over the image of former state workers on street corners with hand-painted signs saying they'll work for food.

I'll stop there before I REALLY get going.
