Is there any good reason why DD would choose to ignore such a lucrative market??
Californians tend to live healthier lifestyles then the rest of the nation.

Those who find DD coffee to be atrocious may themselves have very poor taste in coffee. They probably think the truly awful Vietnam-grown coffee they're used to buying a Trong's corner donut shop is the best there is, having never actually tries DD coffee or a good, 100% Colombian, Arabica-bean based brew.
We bought a bag of DD coffee and really disliked it. Even though we live 2,000 miles from California now, we order all our coffee from Peet's Coffee and Tea - the only good thing I can think of to have ever come out of Bezerkeley!

Give Eight O'Clock a try. Consumer Reports rated it as best and, although they didn't pick the French Roast, that may be their best. The good thing about it is that it's relatively cheap.

Walmart has it. I concur with Snortenstein about the French Roast.

Just ordered a bag of Italian roast, one of our favorites from Peet's. This will give us a good comparison. If we like it better, French roast is next.

We may live on the border of Samland but we don't do Walmart.

I too hate Walmart, but I'll put up with it for the 5 minutes it takes to run in and buy a couple of bags of coffee beans, especially since they're the only place around that carries the brand. Maybe Sam's does, but I don't pay yearly membership fees for the privilege of shopping at some crowded-ass warehouse store that treats me like a suspected thief every time I leave with a buggy load of stuff I just paid for.

LOL.

Totally off topic, but speaking of coffee...
If you want some good high-end stuff, Curmy, you can order from these guys:
Santa Barbara Roasting Company
I gave you the dark stuff page, because I know you're a connoisseur...

and the two best lattes in North America can be found here:
Verve Coffee Roasters - Santa Cruz, CA

and here:
The French Press - Santa Barbara, CA

You might want to try Verve directly, as they provide the beans and roasting for the two above: Verve Coffee Roasters | Welcome

Thank you, Sir. There's not much better than a good cup-o-Joe!

I usually just get whats on sale at the time, whether its DD, Starbucks, Peets etc. just as long it gives me a big kick in the butt in the morning is all I really care about. That said, taste varies, but if brewed right any brand will do.
