Are there any Chicoans who can tell me about the history of "Longfellow Village"? It seems to have disappeared from the standard lists of Chico neighborhoods. So far as I can tell, the border is roughly Mangrove Ave. on the west, Vallombrosa on the south, and E. 1st Ave. (or Manzanita?) on the north. Not sure about the eastern border.

The area seems to be mostly single family homes built in the 1950s. I would describe it as a modest, working class and middle class neighborhood today, dotted with churches, very pleasant and not at all pretentious.

I've seen references to a Vallombrosa neighborhood .... wondering if that is what Longfellow has become, or is it something else?
