It's a combo of a strong local economy, advanced infrastructure, good schools, and a good combo of lifestyle and quality of life which makes San Francisco the best city to live in in America according to Business Week.

Yes, if you want to live in a small hate filled place then San Francisco is not the right town for you. Values though, yes, they have very good values especially if you care about equal rights.

as much as I could dispute this grand title, that is probably the dumbest ****ing criterion on which to do so.

Hmmm, compared to -- oh say, the bible-belt southern states that champion "family values" -- you know, those states that have the highest rates of divorce, teen pregnancies, child-poverty, and such?

SF people can be every bit as hate filled of people who don't think as they do.

Yep. But people tend not to notice when they hate the same things.

Families' exodus leaves S.F. whiter, less diverse - SFGate
Meh', and there go the realities in your face.

"
San Francisco has the lowest percentage of children among its population of any major American city."

San Francisco becoming a child-free zone as youth population declines | Joshua Sabatini | Local | San Francisco Examiner

... In all honesty, it's right about when some place is plastered on all the front covers of a magazine as the 'BEST PLACE TO BE' that it is surely on its way down the drain.. It's kind of like investing.. When a particular stock is on the tongue of every analyst and investment journal is right about at its peak.. You buy into it and take part in the down trend.

Schools suck in San Francisco (in general).
And surprise, families pack up and leave just about when their kids are coming of school age.
Further, given the insane pricing, the young can't afford it either..

It's become a playground for expats .. the old and wealthy.. I believe there were many (on the ground) articles written about this... I've posted them several times and have experienced it myself visually when i lived in the area.
