San Diego isn't as conservative as some would lead you to believe - - went for Obama and voted in a Democratic mayor.

For that matter neither is Orange county... Only a 10% spread between Republican and Democratic..

The Republican party is due for a revamp... Their primary appeal is to old, white, males...

It does trouble me to see the urban/coast and rural divide. The California Democrats I know are rural people with rural values, love of country, no problems with owning weapons, love of high wild lands, horses, pack mules, hard working salt of the earth types. A far cry from the stereotyped "liberal" Democrat. I like to remind people that if you like our National Parks, National Forests, Wildlife refuges, you are a defacto liberal.
