Isn't you the very one that was complaining about how low paid some people are in CA? Then a possible solution comes along and you point out the flaw in that as well.

They may find that people won't eat much fast food in Long Beach and San Jose I guess. But that's for them to determine in LB and SJ. Or maybe people will still eat out, just less. Or maybe it won't change consumers behaviors at all. We do love our fast food donchaknow.

MOD CUT
Raising the minimum wage isn't a solution to poverty any more than adding a 0 to all of your currency is.

If fast food places in LB or SJ raise their prices, people will go across the street where its cheaper. If they don't raise prices, they'll probably just find a way to make do with less workers.

Or pass the cost onto consumers. Americans is funny, and they might not drive out of SJ or LB to get some fastfood if it costs more in gas than they'd save in fast food increased costs.

They might just eat at the more expensive place just to support it.

When I began working, in 1968, federal minimum wage was $1.60 per hour.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics Inflation Calculator, that hourly rate today, just to keep pace with inflation, should be $10.59 in the current economy.

Or they might just eat less fast food or go out to restaurants less often.

What a concept ... why, people might even prepare fresh healthy food occasionally ... what will the world come to next?

A win for a healthy diet. Fast food has gotten too expensive to even bother with anymore. Who wants to pay $6-7 for a Mc**** meal anyway?

My first job at age 14 was working at a car wash owned by my Sunday School teacher in 1965. $1.25

Trading a peanut butter sandwich for real authentic Mexican food.......Priceless!
